چکیده

Currently, oil spill pollution is one of the major environmental concerns for sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) aquaculture. During spills, spraying chemical dispersants generally considered an efficient response. However, impact dispersant deployment during spills on cucumbers still less known. In this study, we treated with physically and chemically (by GM-2 dispersant) dispersed Oman crude 24 h. For antioxidant defense capacities, our results showed that caused a significant elevation superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase (CAT) activities, glutathione (GSH) content, while decrease in SOD activity GSH content no apparent change CAT activity. As non-specific immune responses, indicated up-regulated acid phosphatase (ACP) lysozyme (LZM) activities but had obvious alkaline (ALP) Differently, down-regulated ACP LZM up-regulating ALP Based integrated biomarker response analysis, overall capacities responses was more severe than oil.

Absorption and Transport of Sea Cucumber Saponins from Apostichopus japonicus

The present study is focused on the intestinal absorption of sea cucumber saponins. We determined the pharmacokinetic characteristics and bioavailability of Echinoside A and Holotoxin A₁; the findings indicated that the bioavailability of Holotoxin A₁ was lower than Echinoside A. We inferred that the differences in chemical structure between compounds was a factor that explained their different...

Ingestion and sublethal effects of physically and chemically dispersed crude oil on marine planktonic copepods

Planktonic copepods play a key function in marine ecosystems, however, little is known about the effects of dispersants and chemically dispersed crude oil on these important planktonic organisms. We examined the potential for the copepods Acartia tonsa, Temora turbinata and Parvocalanus crassirostris to ingest crude oil droplets and determined the acute toxicity of the dispersant Corexit(®) 950...

Characterization and Expression Analysis of MicroRNAs in the Tube Foot of Sea Cucumber Apostichopus japonicus

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of endogenous non-coding small RNA with average length of 22 nucleotides, participating in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. In this study, we report the identification and characterization of miRNAs in the tube foot of sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) by next generation sequencing with Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform. Through the bioinform...

Comparative transcriptome analysis of papilla and skin in the sea cucumber, Apostichopus japonicus.

Papilla and skin are two important organs of the sea cucumber. Both tissues have ectodermic origin, but they are morphologically and functionally very different. In the present study, we performed comparative transcriptome analysis of the papilla and skin from the sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) in order to identify and characterize gene expression profiles by using RNA-Seq technology. We...
